My Track and Field Journey

                                             Past

I started training for basketball and running track at the age of 7. I grew up in an athletic family where the words “I can’t” weren't spoken of.  I am the 2nd sibling of 4 and enjoy spending time with family.  For 8 years I was an AAU Regional and Junior Olympian qualifier for the 100 and 200 meter dash; as well as, the 4x100 relay.  I am athletic, hard working, competitive, and enjoy running. In high school I played basketball freshman year and made the Varsity track team. I played Varsity football as a tight end and outside linebacker as a junior. Each sport has contributed to my growth and versatility.  I got injured along this journey and that setback in April 2023 only fueled my commitment to come back stronger—physically and mentally. The resilience led me to look at life and track from a different lens and learn my body and what training it needs. In 2024 I received All-City honors in the 4x200 meter relay.

                                       Present

Through a personalized plan along with speed training I’m on the track to strive to be the best I can be. In June 2025 I received All -Conference Honors in the 4x400 meter relay and was honored with the “Courage Award” . I embody the courage to stay focused, work hard and overcome adversity. Off the track I use my experiences to support younger peers through being a member of the Link Crew Club (peer mentorship peer leadership program) and I also coordinate the social media page for this. What I learned from track and field makes me a well-rounded person both on and off the track.  I am the definition of a student athlete with maintaining honors and taking International Baccalaureate courses my junior and senior year in high school.

                                      Future

I want to continue to run track beyond high school. I would love to be accepted to not only a school that aligns with my athletic goals but also academics.
